COURSE DESCRIPTION
Clinical Hypnotherapy
Class dates: Mondays, TBA 10 am - 1:30 pm or 6:30 - 10:00 pm (PDT)
class meets 10 wks. For 3.5 hrs per wk. = 35 hrs.
Lab Hours (assignments to be done off campus) = 15 hrs.
(Lab assignments require 1.50 hrs. per week) Total of 50 CEU Hours
Attend in-person or with Zoom.
PLEASE NOTE: This class will meet in the classroom with a maximum of 14 students and simultaneously will be presented on-line through ZOOM until further notice.
This course is voluntary and available for any student to achieve the desired educational objectives (certification) and/or Continuing Education Units for Hypnotherapists from this program.
This course is a ten week program and provides 50+ hours of training, a passing grade in a Final Review, and a Certificate of Completion upon a demonstration of qualifying skills in what you have learned. This course includes basic training in hypnosis techniques and applications. It is the objective of this school that you are a qualified, educated, trained, professional hypnotherapist who will be self-employed, or utilizing this training as ancillary to a current profession, or for personal informational use upon completion of this course. The instruction offered leads to the achievement of the learning objectives of this course. PLEASE NOTE: Your homework for each week’s class will be reviewed and graded by the instructor or director and you will receive a critique and coaching, if needed, on your accomplishments. All courses meet once weekly with specific course subject and content to teach you new modalities and techniques and information that is discussed and demonstrated for proficiency by the student in the following week. Each student is paired with a classmate and given feedback by the classmate as to his/her proficiency as well as being observed by the instructor. The instructor will critique each student’s demonstration and offer suggestions for improvement if needed.
The Clinical Course is an depth experience with volunteers/clients to give the student an opportunity to practice on many different human problems and issues and to develop the habit of maintaining case studies and information on all clients in the future. Students are introduced to applications of therapeutic hypnosis for children, for grief, and for humor. The purpose of the content of the course is to add to the professionalism and expertise of the hypnotherapist.
a) Students will interview volunteers during class and design an induction with posthypnotic suggestions and imagery.
b) Students will work with a volunteer to for approximately 4 to 6 sessions and create a case study of the sessions and progress of the volunteer.
c) Class begins with progress reports and suggestions
d) Different topic will be addressed weekly. Demonstrations and suggestions concerning each topic will be given by the instructor.
e) Book reports and due dates will be assigned. Each class member will present a book report.
Hypnotherapy Instructor
Owner and lead instructor for Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapist, speaker, program developer, intuitive counselor, radio host, and co-developer of GEMT (Guided Empathy Meridian Tapping).
Dorthy is also affiliated with UC San Diego School of Medicine's Centers for Integrative Health as a certified LIGHT Practitioner, mentor, and instructor for Academic Hypnotherapy/NLP Certification Course.
Spanish Hypnotherapy Instructor
She has a private practice and has been teaching professional hypnotherapy in Spanish at the Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy since 2009. Isabela is also affiliated with UC San Diego School of Medicine's Centers for Integrative Health as a certified LIGHT Practitioner, mentor, and instructor for Academic Hypnotherapy/NLP Certification Course.
